Career Overview
My career in live entertainment began in Winnipeg in 1989, working on the technical side of live production while studying at the University of Manitoba. Over time, I expanded into touring, stage and production management, technical design and budgeting. I had the good fortune early on to work with a diverse mix of North American and international clients.
1989–2000 - Early Technical & Touring Work
I began working in live production while studying electrical engineering at the University of Manitoba, supporting campus productions on the UMSU technical team.
After university, I continued working in live entertainment as a freelance technician, taking on technical, lighting and production roles. I also began casual Union work in 1993 and became a full journeyman member of IATSE Local 63 in 1995.
During this period, I freelanced in lighting at Westsun and audio at Sound Art, in addition to working directly with independent clients. Productions from the period included Sunfest, Festival du Voyageur, Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Watchmen, Lilith Fair and Iron Maiden.
2001–2015 - Stage Group International
My next major project was a partnership in the production company Stage Group International based in Toronto, Ontario. As a Principal Partner and Senior Production Manager, I managed touring productions across North America and internationally. My work with SGI included Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO), which I began working with in 2002.
Responsibilities included production management, technical design, budgeting, staffing, logistics, contracts and immigration.
2016–Present - Production Strategy
After leaving the SGI partnership in 2015, I moved to New York City and started Production Strategy, an independent production management and consulting company. I take on freelance production management, consulting and production design work.
2024–Present - Night Castle Management
In 2024, after more than two decades working with Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO), I joined Night Castle Management full time. I am responsible for production oversight of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Savatage and American Young Voices. My role includes production planning, budgeting, technical design and implementation, staffing, vendor coordination and touring operations.
